The Harlow is pleased to partner with the Maine Crafts Association to bring their online collection of Maine lighting to life! In April 2021 the MCA created "The Light at the End of the Tunnel" a sourcing and informational online guide for Maine made lighting. This garden features sitting areas, to watch the Winged Wonders flitting about the garden. All gardens were sourced locally with found objects, native plants and some fun features.

Casco Bay Glassworks will be open for Maine Craft Weekend, offering glassblowing demos from 10-3 and the gallery will be open from 10-4. We will make pumpkins, leaves, skulls, and other fall related glass. The pumpkin patch will be stocked with freshly blown pumpkins.

Several Artists will be on site to show their crafts and local authors will present their books for signing. Lisa Oettinger will demonstrate her jewelry making techniques (1:00 pm), Jeff Longar will entertain with his wood carving/boat hull-making demo (11:00 am), John Wotton will work throughout the day (when there is sun!) to show how he burns wood designs by using a magnifying glass and the heat of the sun. Two authors will be on hand all day to discuss and autograph their latest books: Roger Greene, author of "In the Company of Trees" about the Northern Maine Woods and Jane Harvey Meade, author of "Narrownook", a murder-mystery novel based in Bucksport. Impromptu Watercolor and Acrylic painting-on-furniture demonstrations will take place throughout the day. The Lighthouse Gallery also displays the work of 60 local Maine artists in a variety of mediums. The lower level of the Lighthouse Gallery will also house the Fiber Arts Show described in a separate listing.

Watch Linda Perrin with her team of glass blowers create blown glass pumpkins right before your very eyes. Outside of the Atlantic Art Glass studio we will create a small glass pumpkin patch with many blown glass pumpkins displayed for sale on hay bales and rustic autumn shelves. the public will be allowed inside the studio to watch as molten glass is pulled from the furnace, blown and hand formed on the end of a blowpipe into the classic, fun pumpkin shape. As an added attraction, after 3pm you can visit Fogtown brewery right below the glass blowing studio where a safe and gorgeous beer garden is open to the public. This annual event will be implementing Maine CDC safety protocols.

This is an exhibit of traditional and contemporary Shibori textile art. Shibori is an ancient Japanese process of folding, clamping, twisting, stitching, plaiting fabric and compressing it before dying in indigo to resist the dye from entering certain parts of the fabric.
This creates a 3-D effect on a 2-D surface. There are hundreds of patterns and processes.
Beyond the Blues also offers textiles that demonstrate color blending with natural dyes and other dyes using Shibori techniques. There will be wall hangings, scarves, and home décor items for sale.

The Downeast Scenic Railroad offers a scenic ten-mile round-trip train ride from Ellsworth, Maine, on the historic Calais Branch Line. This is the first passenger train to run on the line in decades! Gardiner wood turner, Glen Glazier will share his passion for wood turning while demonstrating techniques of turning small bowls, pens and handles. In addition to the items normally offered at Monkitree, Glen will bring additional turned objects available for sale.
On October 2, the public will have its first chance to visit At Home Modern, the tapestry weaving studio and classroom of Bobbie Tilkens-Fisher. Come take in breathtaking views of the St. George river, shop a selection of her sculptural wall hangings, sign up for private lessons & workshops and maybe even buy some weaving supplies!
Bobbie will be on hand to demonstrate her tapestry weaving techniques and answer questions.

Autumn Cipala invites you to an open air exhibition of her porcelain vessels and tableware on Saturday, October 2, 11:00 - 3:00, in the gardens just outside her pottery studio. One-of-a-kind, handmade works will be on display and available for purchase.
Autumn creates luminous porcelain vessels with a truth to function. Soft, translucent glazes enhance the clean elegance of form while highlighting details of surface embellishment.

Jeff Longar will be demonstrating wood carving and wood boat half hull making at 11:00 a.m. and Lisa Oettinger will show how she makes her bead jewelry at 1:00 p.m. Demonstrations of Watercolor and Acrylic painting on furniture will take place throughout the day. Plus two local authors will be autographing and talking about their latest books: Roger Greene on his book about the Northern Maine Woods "In the Company of Trees" and Jane Harvey Meade on her book "Narrownook", based in Bucksport. Shop tours and heirloom furniture on display. An open studio for everyone to come and see my one one-off furniture pieces and how they are made from board to finish. I will have currently available furniture and lighting as well as some prototypes and select commissions on display.

Local artist and owner Paola Buentello of El Oso Taqueria displays her paintings inside one of Gardiner's newest restaurants. Offering authentic Mexican dishes for dining in or take out, El Oso also celebrates local artists and crafters and from many regions with a gift shop and gallery. Stop in to see the art on display, and enjoy a signature street taco and fresh, homemade aguas. Open Saturday, October 2 from 11am-8pm and Sunday from 11am until sold out.
Visit the new working Studio/School of Lisa & Scott Cylinder in Fort Andross in Brunswick. Affectionately called "the Wedge" because of its unusual shape, they will present examples of their work and share their story of being collaborators making mixed-media jewelry and objects for 33+ years together. Learn about the Workshops and Classes that they offer, as well as the rich history of their workings in the Craft Show and Gallery world. Work will be available for sale and masks will be required to enter the building. 11am - 4pm Saturday & Sunday.

DYAD: Jewelry artist Shelby Goldsmith and ceramicist Heather Stewart Harvey present work that renders states of harmony and tension in paired forms. A rumination on how things fit together and pull apart, the work brings emotive states into material being.
Weather permitting most, if not all, of this exhibition will be held outside. Saturday October 2nd 11-4, Sunday October 3rd 11-4.
Linda Brissette will be showing her paintings at Sweetgrass Farm Winery & Distillery in Union: Linda employs the use of color to express her appreciation for the places and family scenes that have been especially meaningful to her during her lifetime. Growing up in the coastal Maine village of Camden and later raising her own children a few miles inland in Waldo county, Linda, a social worker by profession, painted whenever she found an opportunity to indulge in her passion. Now retired, she is able to devote her time fully to her painting. Her paintings of commonplace scenes expressed in a colorful and unique perspective are aimed at communicating to the viewer a sense of how highly valued and precious is this way of life we enjoy in Maine.
Driftwood sculptures, cotton dabbed oil paintings, tourmaline jewelry, porcelain pottery, Maine species wood turnings and new, large wall art will be on display for Maine Craft Weekend visitors all weekend! 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM, October 2 +3.
Bonnie Bishoff will be demonstrating her innovative techniques with polymer clay for creating the large patterned veneers that she and J.M. Syron apply in their wall sculptures and jewelry. Like watching a crazy puzzle being assembled, it is mesmerizing to see the many small pieces of patterned clay melding together to compose an orchestrated surface with loads of complexity. This demo will be at 12 Noon on both Saturday and Sunday!
You will also see their Maine Craft Portland exhibition 'Wildflower Wall: Flora and Fauna Large and Small' to open on First Friday's Art Walk.
Bonnie Bishoff and J. M. Syron work collaboratively and in innovative ways with detailed polymer veneers, wood and metal structures in their wall sculptures and one of a kind jewelry. A collaborative design and build team, they have been working together for 33 years developing a mixed media esthetic in furniture, lighting, sculptural objects and jewelry.
From noon to 5:00 p.m. each day, I will be making kozo paper in my studio, rain or shine. Also present in the gallery will be wooden wares by Louis Charlett of New Gloucester Maine and Hillary Hutton of Vienna Maine. Click for more information.

Ryan Blotnick has been called “a vital contemporary voice” by Time Out New York, “an authentic, compelling player” by Cadence Magazine, and has garnered praise from fellow guitarists John Abercrombie, Steve Cardenas and Ben Monder. As part of one of the last
generations to study with 1960s era masters like Gene Bertoncini, Harold Mabern, Yusef Lateef, Billy Taylor and Andrew Cyrille, Blotnick developed a deep respect for the post-bop and free-jazz traditions, while simultaneously being exposed to current directions
in European and American improvisation. His interest in creative composition has led him to work with artists such as Michael Blake, Pete Robbins, Bill McHenry, Mat Maneri, and Tyshawn Sorey.

Join Maggie and Bill Iannuzzi at Precipice Coffee for a demonstration of the unique roast process on their zero-emissions Bellwether Coffee Roaster - the first of its kind in Maine. In addition to sourcing organic and fair trade beans, the coffee at Precipice is produced with zero carbon emissions and is sold in eco-friendly packaging. They will be welcoming a new espresso machine into the shop the weekend of October 2nd and will show you how to make a Pumpkin Spice Latte featuring local Maine pie pumpkin puree. Come hang out by the fire and learn what makes Precipice Coffee taste so good. Other coffee and tea beverages, as well as home-baked goods, will be available. The roasting demonstration starts at 11:00 am and masks are required.
