Artist Talk with Lissa Hunter & Ashley Page: 2021 MCA Craft Apprentice Program @ Watershed for the Ceramics Arts

October 3, 2021 @ 2:00 pm

The public is invited to attend an artist talk with Lissa Hunter (mentor) & Ashley Page (apprentice) on October 3, 2pm in the gallery at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts.

This apprenticeship focused on apprentice artist Ashley Page’s goals to deepen and expand her basket making skills and artistic voice, delve into the history, contexts and expansive styles and materials used in traditional and contemporary basket-making and create new work in response, and in collaboration with, mentor artist, Lissa Hunter.  She accomplished this through 100 hours of guidance, reflection and training spent together with Lissa in-studio, through remote meetings, visiting museums and exhibitions and attending relevant webinars.

Each year, CAP concludes with an exhibition, Mentors & Apprentices: New Work from the Craft Apprentice Program. The exhibition is hosted by MCA organizational partner, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts with an opening reception during Maine Craft Weekend in addition to other events and activities on campus. Maine Craft Weekend is a statewide tour of Maine craft studios, businesses and events.

The Maine Crafts Associations supports craft artists by providing educational, marketing and retail opportunities.
