ME Craft Weekend at Watershed Ceramics

We’re excited to welcome you to Watershed’s beautiful campus for Maine Craft Weekend for a tour of our brand new Windgate Studio, a kiln opening and art sale, artist talks, and a collaborative exhibition with the Maine Craft Association at the Barkan Gallery. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Watershed requires everyone to wear a mask at any indoor location on campus, regardless of vaccination status.

You’re invited to the first-ever public event at the new Windgate Studio at Watershed!
After years of planning, months of construction, and reopening our residency program during a pandemic, we’re finally ready to show off our transformation.
Tour the state-of-the-art, 7,500 square foot studio building with Fran Rudoff, Executive Director, and Reeder Fahnestock, Studio Manager, to learn about the history from the chicken barn to the brick factory to the beautiful open-concept creative space.

Artists Tim Christensen, Janna DeWan, Ellie Porta-Barnet, Jon Ho, Keann Petrie, and Aidan Fraser have just completed a wood firing at Watershed and will be selling pottery fresh out of the kilns! Here’s a chance to meet the artists, ask questions, experience the excitement, and take home a treasure!

Join us for public artist talks during Maine Craft Weekend with four of the exhibiting artists in the current Mentors & Apprentice exhibition.
The artists will discuss their goals for the apprenticeship, their experiences during the 100 hours of time spent together, and the impact on their creative practice.

Join us for Watershed’s first gallery exhibition since 2019 to celebrate the culmination of the 2021 Craft Apprentice Program (CAP), featuring the work of both the mentors and apprentices. CAP, offered by Maine Crafts Association (MCA) and Maine Arts Commission, is a 7-month intensive in-studio learning opportunity for apprentices who demonstrate a commitment to furthering their craft practice, and mentors who meet standards of excellence and interest in sharing knowledge and experience.
