Jemma Gascoine will conduct a 'Q & A' on the 'Tree Talk' show that she curated for the Gascoine Gallery which features seventeen different artists who all made work in different media, on the theme of trees. The artists hail from two different countries and four different states. Six of the artists included were former Monson Arts residents.
10am - 12pm demonstrations of how to throw mugs on a potter's wheel, then the opportunity to 'have a go' throwing one too.
10am - 5pm 'Tree Talk' exhibition in the Gascoine Gallery on the 2nd floor. Sixteen different fine artists and craftsman are showing work on the theme of 'trees'. The artists include former Monson Arts residents and Maine Crafts Association members.
Jemma Gascoine will demonstrate how to build a trash can out of clay by partially throwing the base on a potter's wheel followed by further building by adding extruded coils.
Join Monson Pottery's raku firing which will begin at 9.30am on October 1st, with post firing reduction at noon, where red hot pots are drawn from the kiln and smoked in cedar chips before finally being cooled and scrubbed free of soot revealing iridescent glazes.
Jemma Gascoine will demonstrate 'Throwing-off-a-hump' on a potter's wheel between 10am and 12pm on Saturday October 2nd. Barbara Sullivan's fresco show will also be open for viewing 10 - 5 Saturday October 2nd and Sunday October 3rd.
