The Harlow is pleased to partner with the Maine Crafts Association to bring their online collection of Maine lighting to life! In April 2021 the MCA created "The Light at the End of the Tunnel" a sourcing and informational online guide for Maine made lighting. The Harlow will illuminate this collection further by mounting an exhibition of lights, lighting, lamps and related works from the MCA members included in the guide.

Common Roots Studio is a nature themed community oriented art working space and gallery. CRS features local Maine artists while promoting community building through the exploration of art. During the weekend, the studio will host a showcase exhibiting an array of Maine artists of all levels from established to fresh into the gallery setting! Everything for sale is all made by the garden club members, often "one-of-a-kind."

The techniques of wood and ropework employed by shipwrights and ship riggers four hundred years ago might have been commonplace then, but now they are nearly lost arts. The volunteers of Maine's First Ship are working to preserve those skills through practical use in the reconstruction of the 1607 ship Virginia. Join us in the historic Freight Shed as we demonstrate the unique skills needed to bring and Elizabethan era ship to life.
Purple Shed Woodworks will be opening their doors to welcome visitors from all over the state of Maine! During the open studio hours visitors will be able to tour the studio and talk with Jason Ledoux, the woodworker behind all of Purple Shed Woodworks creations. A wide selection of woodworks will be available to purchase as well!
Aaron will create a wooden spoon from local wood using traditional hand tools! Aaron will be bringing his knowledge of woodcarving, examples of different tools, and an array of spoons, bowls, and sculptures. Come with your spoon carving questions. Watch him turn a whole log into a spoon!

Several Artists will be on site to show their crafts and local authors will present their books for signing. Lisa Oettinger will demonstrate her jewelry making techniques (1:00 pm), Jeff Longar will entertain with his wood carving/boat hull-making demo (11:00 am), John Wotton will work throughout the day (when there is sun!) to show how he burns wood designs by using a magnifying glass and the heat of the sun. Two authors will be on hand all day to discuss and autograph their latest books: Roger Greene, author of "In the Company of Trees" about the Northern Maine Woods and Jane Harvey Meade, author of "Narrownook", a murder-mystery novel based in Bucksport. Impromptu Watercolor and Acrylic painting-on-furniture demonstrations will take place throughout the day. The Lighthouse Gallery also displays the work of 60 local Maine artists in a variety of mediums. The lower level of the Lighthouse Gallery will also house the Fiber Arts Show described in a separate listing.

During this open studio you will get the chance to see works in progress and you can witness the magic of sculptures taking to the air, balancing and moving.
Additionally walk through the garden display and enjoy the artwork on the open porches. Dynamically moving sculptures need to be seen in person, no photo will give justice to the magic. Enjoy this chance of seeing mobiles in different sizes and materials as well as jewelry and belt buckles. I look forward to meeting you.
