24th Annual Freeport Fall Festival

Each year on the first weekend in October, Visit Freeport brings together over 175 of the best New England artists, makers and local food producers for a three-day festival on the L.L.Bean campus, behind the Freeport Historical Society, and in the Freeport Village Station courtyard in Freeport, Maine.

In addition to browsing local art, join us at the Discovery Stage on the L.L.Bean campus for three days of live music. There are also plenty of free activities for kids from make ‘n take crafts, to scavenger hunts and more. And, thanks to our generous sponsors, it’s all FREE!

New for 2023, park at the L.L.Bean headquarters on the corner of Casco Street and Route 1 and enjoy our complimentary shuttle to the center of town!

Maine Craft weekend is the opening of Rick Osterhout's new studio. Woodworker, sculptor, creator of Maine Rockers https://www.mainerockers.com , Rick is putting the finishing touches on the new studio/workshop at his home in Farmington. Made from wood and stone from the beautiful property it sits on, and many reclaimed materials, the small timber frame barn is a piece of art in itself. There will be sculptures on display, some Maine Rockers animals and various folk art for sale. Stop in on your way to or from Sugarloaf's Homecoming.

Artisan Hub + Glass Pumpkin Patch at Artsworth

Maine crafts artists will gather at the downtown warehouse to demonstrate and show their work.  Artisans plan to fill the gallery and parking lot with autumn inspired work for sale. Artisans who make pottery, weaving, fiber art, house wares, painting and sculpture will be showing and demonstrating and discussing how they make their work. As usual at this annual harvest season event, you can watch the Atlantic Art Glass team create blown glass pumpkins. The studio of Atlantic Art Glass will be turned into a glass pumpkin patch as the molten glass is pulled from the furnace, blown and hand formed on the end of a blowpipe. The glass pumpkin patch charms visitors of all ages. Fogtown brewery located in the building, will be slinging wood fired pizzas and their delicious and creative brews including cider, beer, wine and seltzers.

Open Studio- Witness The Magic

Have you ever wondered how a mobile gets its balance? During this open studio, you will get the chance to see works in progress and you can witness the magic of sculptures taking to the air, balancing and moving. Additionally, walk through the garden display and enjoy the artwork on the open porches. Dynamically moving sculptures need to be seen in person, no photo will give justice to the magic. Running With Scissors Artist Studios & Community 250 Anderson St, Portland

Saturday, October 7 | 11am - 4pm Open Studios at Running with Scissors Studios! 

We are happy to be opening our 16,000 sq ft fine art studio workspace housing Clay, Wood & Print departments as well as many other mediums serving over 80 artists Saturday in Portland's East Bayside neighborhood. Tour the workspace, meet the artists, watch demos, get interactive with Pottery Painting with Armstrong Pottery, and live t-shirt printing from woodblocks. Free and open to all. A great neighborhood to walk around in before or after. Full of artists, beverage artists, food trucks, and more.

Join us later that evening at Belleflower Brewing Co., located at 66 Cove Street, from 5 - 7 pm for an informal meet and greet and to view the annual RWS 6x6 Show. Each piece is 6” x 6” and up to 6” deep, an accessible and unifying format that showcases members' diverse styles and talents. The exhibit will be up through the end of November.
