Visit the new working Studio/School of Lisa & Scott Cylinder in Fort Andross in Brunswick. Affectionately called "the Wedge" because of its unusual shape, they will present examples of their work and share their story of being collaborators making mixed-media jewelry and objects for 33+ years together. Learn about the Workshops and Classes that they offer, as well as the rich history of their workings in the Craft Show and Gallery world. DIRECTIONS: From the parking lot, enter the LEFT SET of green double doors below the "Cabot Mill" sign, go down the stairs and to the end of the hallway. Polymer Veneer Demo with Bonnie Bishoff & JM Syron

Maine Craft Portland 521 Congress St, Portland, ME

Bonnie Bishoff will be demonstrating her innovative techniques with polymer clay for creating the large patterned veneers that she and J.M. Syron apply in their wall sculptures and jewelry. Like watching a crazy puzzle being assembled, it is mesmerizing to see the many small pieces of patterned clay melding together to compose an orchestrated surface with loads of complexity. This demo will be at 12 Noon on both Saturday and Sunday!
You will also see their Maine Craft Portland exhibition 'Wildflower Wall: Flora and Fauna Large and Small' to open on First Friday's Art Walk.

Bonnie Bishoff and J. M. Syron work collaboratively and in innovative ways with detailed polymer veneers, wood and metal structures in their wall sculptures and one of a kind jewelry. A collaborative design and build team, they have been working together for 33 years developing a mixed media esthetic in furniture, lighting, sculptural objects and jewelry.

This autumn exhibition at Maine Craft Portland features handmade chef knives, damascus steel hammers, forged steel lamps, cookware & beyond – all masterfully made to last for generations. Nick Rossi, Jason Morrissey and Nick Wicks, all uniquely skilled in their craft and each an accomplished Maine craftsman, all approach working with steel in distinct and creative methods. This unique opportunity to view their collective work on exhibition is conveniently located in Portland’s arts district. 

Maine Craft Portland is a retail gallery + resource center in the historic Mechanics Hall downtown Portland, Maine. The gallery promotes craft in Maine through exhibitions and public programming and directly benefits Maine craft artists through sales of their work. Maine Craft Portland opened in July 2018 and exhibits and sells the work of over 200 MCA member craft artists.

Social Fabric Workshop Series at Hinge Collaborative

Hinge Collaborative 5 Silver Street, Waterville, ME

Social Fabric is a series of workshops exploring the power and potential of art and co-creation to build connection and belonging in our communities. Workshop offerings are from artists working in various processes, including printmaking, book arts and textile techniques. Participants will explore the material meanings and rich metaphors of thread and fabric to imagine new ways of weaving together a stronger social fabric through making and connecting.

The workshop series launches with artist Evelyn Wong of Fireball Bookbindery on Maine Craft Weekend, Saturday, October 7. Join Evelyn for the day at Hinge with a beading circle from 12-2 and a bookmaking workshop from 3-5. Attend one or both workshops. Registration is required.
