MJ Benson will be painting en plein air outside her studio, and will have her studio open. She is an abstract landscape painter, working primarily in acrylics but experimenting with several other types of paint and multimedia, including encaustic, oils and gouache.
Valerie Paul will be demonstrating some of the techniques she uses while working on her watercolor paintings. She will also have some new original work for sale along with some of her watercolor prints.

Glassblowing Pumpkin Patch & Fine Craft Ellsworth HUB!

Ken and Linda Perrin delight in demonstrating their glassblowing craft to the public and creating a hub of fine arts activities during Heart of Ellsworth’s Maine Craft Weekend !
Along with the pottery, weaving, and jewelry demonstrations you can watch the Atlantic Art Glass team create blown glass pumpkins. The studio of Atlantic Art Glass will be turned into a “glass pumpkin patch” as the molten glass is pulled from the furnace, blown and hand formed on the end of a blowpipe. The glass pumpkin patch charms visitors of all ages.
All artisans plan to fill the gallery with autumn inspired work for sale.
As an added treat, our downstairs neighbors, Fogtown Brewing Company will be open for craft beer tastings.

Emi Ito, Weaver from Bath, Maine: “Transporting my unique Saori loom to the Atlantic Art Glass warehouse in Ellsworth. I will join other artists in the celebration of Maine Craft Weekend. I look forward to doing demonstrations of various fun weaving techniques as well as have some of my scarves and shawls for sale.”
Kristi Frank, an intuitive abstract artist, using the highest environmental standards, creates jewelry with distinctive silhouettes. She owns Salt Grass Jewelry in South Portland, ME and will be coming up to Ellsworth to join the festivities. She will be doing metalsmithing demonstrations. And have her work available for sale!
Kreg McCune Pottery, from Mt. Desert Island is a potter, he will be offering pottery wheel demonstrations for the public on Saturday. Kreg will provide opportunities for visitors to experience and create on the potter’s wheel and learn more about the process of creating fine ceramics from start to finish. Kreg McCune Pottery will have work available for purchase and over the course of the weekend will be creating a set of hand thrown mugs for Fogtown Brewery! (Saturday only.)
Huggy Bear Glassware, from Mount Desert Island will bring his trusty torch to the festivities, and do glass lamp working demonstrations.
Kate Russell Henry is a hand spinner of wool, mohair, angora, silk, flax and many vegetable fibers. These linear fibers full of texture, color and shape, find their way to crochet sculptures and woven items. She also collects old, found and purchased papers to create assemblages. New work includes mixed media pieces.

Artisans & Antiques is a large collaborative of local artists. Five of the members of the group will be demonstrating their craft.
10:00am – 12:00pm | Bob Bryson is a talented artist and illustrator in a wide variety of mediums. He will create a sea gull panel crafted from reclaimed wood collected from the local sea shore. His creations are fun, whimsical and very popular.
12:00pm – 1:00pm | Valerie Whitmer-Hammond creates jewelry and art from sea glass collected locally. She will give an instruction and demonstration on the tools required and the technique to successfully drill a hole thru sea glass and polished granite stones for jewelry making.
1:00pm – 4:00pm | Hatie Clingerman has been felting for over 40 years. She loves working with her own sheep fiber and with fiber from other local farms.
She will demonstrate how to felt around a resist to make a vessel and how to felt a cord and flat piece to embellish it.
10:30am – 12:30pm | Cathy Bell Clark will demonstrate needle-felting, which is a relatively new craft that involves sculpting wool fibers with the use of specially barbed needles. Inspired by her connections with wildlife and her taxidermy experience, she creatures with an uncannily realistic look.
10:30 – 12:30pm | Kim Walker has been creating Bas Relief tile for homes up and down the coast of Maine for twenty five years. Her work is in many galleries as stand alone art tiles as well. She will be demonstrating the techniques and processes of creating art tile.
1:30 – 3:30pm | Cathy Rees is a professional landscape artist and draws her inspiration from the native flora that inhabits the coast of Maine and find connections and patterns in its beauty. She is a member of the Brooklin Pottery Coop. Cathy will instruct you on making your own clay pendant or ornament using self-hardening clay.

Gallery 302 is a juried artists’ cooperative operated by exhibiting artists and members of the Bridgton Art Guild. The gallery was first opened in 2003 and features a wide variety of media. In addition to showcasing the work of member artists, Gallery 302 hosts solo shows of guest artists, and also offers a lively series of classes and lectures. Guild shows as well as student shows complement the summer activities of Open Studio Day, the Camp Show, and Art in the Park, which is an annual celebration of art and craft on the third weekend of July.

Handmade Papers Gallery in Brooklin is celebrating its 20th year anniversary! Come see how we make paper and lampshades, and view the work from British world-class linocut artist and shipwright James Dodds. Hillary Hutton and her husband Mark will be here ‘in spirit’ through the presentation of their hand-crafted rugs and lamp bases. Bring a lamp that needs a new shade! The amazing artist Lou Charlett will also be making an appearance, and if you miss him, his work is well represented in the gallery.

Functional studio Potter, Jamie Oates, will be showing pottery making techniques and demonstrations including throwing, finishing and decorating. He has 40 years of experience working in porcelain and raku clay. The adjacent gallery at Mainely Pottery features well designed pottery in stoneware, porcelain, earthenware and Raku clays made by 30 professional Maine potters. A bonus to the visitor is the perennial and annual garden in the back of the gallery designed and maintained by Jeannette Faunce. Jamie Oates and Jeannette Faunce are celebrating their 31st year in business and welcome pottery and garden visitors at Mainely Pottery May through Christmas.
