Marking Time – A Measure of Craft: An Exhibition Presented by Lights Out Gallery

The Carriage House 476 Main Street, Norway

An exhibition that explores how traditional craft techniques and materials, developed over time and practice, influence and inform artistic expression. Craft has often been associated primarily with utility and decoration. This collection of work aims to challenge the delineations between form and function, decorative and expressive, practical and emotional.

36 Windows – a photography show by Lights Out

The Gingerbread House 500 Main St, Norway

36 Windows is a photography exhibit produced by Lights Out’s first residency program. June Kim, Nick Gervin, Harlan Crichton, Neville Caulfield, Scott Vlaun, and Chelsea Ellis were selected for the first residency for their experimental, rigorous, and engaged relationship with their medium. The artists were prompted to live and work in dialogue with the town, the house, and their practices. The exhibition is being held in The Gingerbread House, 500 Main Street, Norway. A bus will be running along the route for anyone who wants a lift.

Bookbinding Workshop with Diana Arcadipone at Fiber + Vine

Fiber & Vine 402 Main Street, Norway

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6 | 10AM-4PM

Make your own handmade journal, sketchbook, or photo album with guest teacher, Diana Arcadipone. Handmade books make a wonderful gift, and are a great way to exhibit unique fabric or papers you’ve collected.

Please bring light to medium-weight fabric to use for your book cover. Fabric should be a natural fiber like silk, linen or cotton. Synthetic fabric like polyester will not work, so if you’re not sure, bring a couple of options with you. Your fabric will need to be big enough to cover your book in one piece, so somewhere around 12 x 24” will work.

All other materials will be provided, but feel free to bring additional papers, buttons, or a clasp to personalize your project.

There will be a short break for lunch during this class. Students should bring a bag lunch or plan to grab food nearby.

Registration is required. Register here: https://www.fiberandvine.com/classes/bookbinding-workshop
