Celebrate the 4th Annual Art of Ellsworth: Maine Craft Weekend at an outdoor benefit concert and fundraiser for Heart of Ellsworth’s new Downtown Ellsworth Mural Project. The event will feature the Fogtown Family Band 5 -7 pm performing live in the beer garden at Fogtown Brewing Company. Come enjoy handmade selections from the beer, cider, and seltzer menu as well as pizza from the wood-fired brick oven. Pizza and beer are available for purchase from 3 to 8 pm.
Aaron will create a wooden spoon from local wood using traditional hand tools! Aaron will be bringing his knowledge of woodcarving, examples of different tools, and an array of spoons, bowls, and sculptures. Come with your spoon carving questions. Watch him turn a whole log into a spoon!

Watch Linda Perrin with her team of glass blowers create blown glass pumpkins right before your very eyes. Outside of the Atlantic Art Glass studio we will create a small glass pumpkin patch with many blown glass pumpkins displayed for sale on hay bales and rustic autumn shelves. the public will be allowed inside the studio to watch as molten glass is pulled from the furnace, blown and hand formed on the end of a blowpipe into the classic, fun pumpkin shape. As an added attraction, after 3pm you can visit Fogtown brewery right below the glass blowing studio where a safe and gorgeous beer garden is open to the public. This annual event will be implementing Maine CDC safety protocols.

Her songs blend heartfelt lyrics with rich harmony and lush, experimental instrumentation. As the leader of the Brooklyn-based band Rose Hips & Ships, she released two albums: The Seafarer, in 2013, and The Colors Now: Parts 1 & 2, in 2020. In August of this year, she brought together many long-time bandmates to record a new record, release date TBA. At Fogtown, she'll be performing new and old material with local musicians Ryan Blotnick, Danny Fisher-Lochhead, and Jonathan Henderson.

Emi Ito will be visiting Artsworth, the hub of creativity in Ellsworth Maine during Maine Craft Weekend. She will show her collection of fine and fun wearable scarves and accessories for sale. In the spirit of celebrating creativity, Emi will demonstrate her craft so others can see the magic of the making in person.
Emi Ito began her explorations in weaving from an early curiosity about form and texture which led her to take a Japanese Saori free-form weaving class, which emphasizes individual expression. The looms were already set up, and with few instructions, she says, “you could just pick your yarn and start weaving.” She has since studied and tried more traditional pattern-weaving techniques, but still prefers the freestyle method she first experienced in New York. It's infinitely unique and allows her to put her handiwork into each piece.

The Ellsworth Historical Society will be hosting an event at the Old Jail Lawn, on State street in Ellsworth, from 1-3 pm in the afternoon of our "Art of Ellsworth" event on Saturday October 1. We have a coloring activity to allow visitors to envision the colorful future we are creating for this jail, as we dive into a grand restoration project, fueled by the receipt of grants from the Maine Community Foundation, The Maine DownTown Center’s Main Streets Foundation and private donors.
Use your creativity to color in our beautiful building on a page with room for free expression. Currently the Hancock County Sheriff’s Home and Old Jail is a prominent feature of our historic district in downtown Ellsworth, and serves as a repository for artifacts and living history of the county seat and it’s colorful inhabitants. Just behind the Ellsworth Public Library on the banks of the Union River is River Walk North's Self guided kids story walk. A partnership with Ellsworth Garden Club, Frenchman Bay Conservancy, Green Ellsworth and the Ellsworth Public Library features All Along the River, author-illustrator Magnus Weightman, a story about a Bunny Rabbit who has lost her toy duck! Bunny and her brothers jump in their boat and head down the river in search of Little Duck. Their journey takes them from the mountaintop to the open sea, but there are many other adventures for readers to follow along the way.

The Heart of Ellsworth Water Street Mural project was born in 2019 with the committee meeting for two years to develop the project. By partnering with the Ellsworth Historical Society, historical images of Ellsworth’s past inspired the community mural. Muralist Judy Talyor and more than 24 volunteers painted the mural with Maliseet visual artist Mihku Paul being welcomed to add the final touches to the mural completing the project in fall of 2022. In Spring of 2023 a interactive QR code was installed on the wall for viewers to scan with the camera on their cell phones that will take viewers to the mural page for more information on the significance of each reveal of the Water Street Mural.

Take a self guided tour of Ellsworth's history with Museum in the Streets. Ellsworth’s history is proudly showcased on 19 different locations around town. Your journey can begin at either of the large information panel at Knowlton Park or downtown on State Street just in front of Mac Revival. This project was initiated by an informal group of residents from Ellsworth’s business community, representatives from the Historical Society, Historic Preservation Commission, Heart of Ellsworth and Chamber of Commerce who collaborated on the project. Many hours were spent studying Ellsworth history, selecting photographs, writing accompanying narration, and determining site locations.
Ellsworth Community Music Institute presents our Instrument Petting Zoo. Some of our teachers will be showing off their instruments, allowing young children 4 and up to touch, play and experience them in person. Join us at the Ellsworth Public Library from 9-11 to hear some music and experience hands-on interactions with our instructors and their instruments.

Join Heart of Ellsworth Design Committee Chair, Amy Reisman for a creative event where she will teach you how to create stunning holiday light displays from chicken wire and string lights. The sculptures created in this workshop will be used in a holiday light insulation at Merrill Park for the 2023 holiday session. All attendees will learn the basics of chicken wire sculpting using common tools, chicken wire and string lights. Whether you're a seasoned DIY enthusiast or a complete beginner, this workshop is perfect for everyone wanting to participate in the creation of community cheer while getting crafty at the same time.

Play or watch locals and tourists revisit favorite Nintendo 64 video games. Bring the kids and show them what games used to be like! Games begin at 7 p.m. and last until 9 p.m. Sign up for a 15-minute slot, enough time to challenge a friend to a four-course Mario Kart Grand Prix or face off in a best-of-three shoot out in 007 Golden Eye. Gameplay is 2-player, but you're welcome to bring your own Nintendo 64 controllers and games from home. Challenge and beat the Game Night Boss in a MK64 race and get a $25 gift card to Fogtown Brewing!
