In celebration of Maine Craft Weekend we will be holding open studio in both our classroom and flame room on Saturday October 2, 2021. There will be many art craft kits on sale for this day, Shardworx, Mosaic, Stained Glass and more.
Glass Paradox offers hand-painted functional and decorative artware; stemware, tabletop accessories, and Christmas ornaments. We are open annually on the second Saturday in December and this year during Maine Craft Weekend. There will be new designs, discontinued & discounted styles/designs, and a selection of one-of-a-kind artware to choose from. Casco Bay Glassworks will be open for Maine Craft Weekend, offering glassblowing demos from 10-3 and the gallery will be open from 10-4. We will make pumpkins, leaves, skulls, and other fall related glass. The pumpkin patch will be stocked with freshly blown pumpkins.
Located along Scenic Route 26 near Grafton Notch, our Open House makes a great stop while you are out leaf peeping. Stop in for a beverage & snack and get an early start on Christmas shopping. Markings Gallery represents 60 of Maine's finest craftspeople and several will be demonstrating their craft including fiber artists, clay and metal workers, jewelers and others.
Watch Linda Perrin with her team of glass blowers create blown glass pumpkins right before your very eyes. Outside of the Atlantic Art Glass studio we will create a small glass pumpkin patch with many blown glass pumpkins displayed for sale on hay bales and rustic autumn shelves. the public will be allowed inside the studio to watch as molten glass is pulled from the furnace, blown and hand formed on the end of a blowpipe into the classic, fun pumpkin shape. As an added attraction, after 3pm you can visit Fogtown brewery right below the glass blowing studio where a safe and gorgeous beer garden is open to the public. This annual event will be implementing Maine CDC safety protocols.

Bentley Pottery will be demonstrating a pit firing of her sculptures. Kaela Brennan and Jonathan Railo will be demonstrating lamp work with a little glass blowing! Glass ornaments and pottery for sale.
Meet some of the artists at the Lighthouse Gallery. Jeff Longar will be demonstrating wood carving and wood boat half hull making at 11:00 a.m. and Lisa Oettinger will show how she makes her bead jewelry at 1:00 p.m. Demonstrations of Watercolor and Acrylic painting on furniture will take place throughout the day. Plus two local authors will be autographing and talking about their latest books: Roger Greene on his book about the Northern Maine Woods "In the Company of Trees" and Jane Harvey Meade on her book "Narrownook", based in Bucksport. Enjoy the work of 60 artists throughout the gallery!

This autumn exhibition at Maine Craft Portland features handmade chef knives, damascus steel hammers, forged steel lamps, cookware & beyond – all masterfully made to last for generations. Nick Rossi, Jason Morrissey and Nick Wicks, all uniquely skilled in their craft and each an accomplished Maine craftsman, all approach working with steel in distinct and creative methods. This unique opportunity to view their collective work on exhibition is conveniently located in Portland’s arts district.
Maine Craft Portland is a retail gallery + resource center in the historic Mechanics Hall downtown Portland, Maine. The gallery promotes craft in Maine through exhibitions and public programming and directly benefits Maine craft artists through sales of their work. Maine Craft Portland opened in July 2018 and exhibits and sells the work of over 200 MCA member craft artists.

Drawing inspiration from the natural world and sacred geometry, artist Heather Kelly has taken the old craft of string art and elevated it into a modern and captivating body of work. From the intricate design of a sunflower’s center to the spiral of a pinecone, she is drawn to the connection we have to patterns found in the natural world, the cosmos, and in our bodies. Made with reclaimed barn boards, painted patterns, nails, and adornments of intricately woven thread and wire, Heather Kelly’s solo exhibition of geometric wall art is on view at the Center for Maine Craft through Sunday, October 2, 2022.
The Center for Maine Craft is a retail gallery presenting and promoting over 300 artist-members of the Maine Crafts Association. Markings Gallery is pleased to join the MCA Studio Tour Weekend this year! We represent over 50 Maine artisans and you will be able to visit a few in the gallery, talking about their work with some demonstrating parts of their techniques. You can ask questions of them and watch while in the process of creating their pieces. The gallery will be featuring them from 10:30 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, October 1, and from 10:30 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, October 2.
Tandem Glass is a hand blown glass studio centrally located in Mid-Coast Maine. Saturday we will be firing up our new wood fired pizza oven for our visitors (suggested donation to MCA) enjoy a slice (as supplies last) or bring your own fixings. Sunday we will be serving muffins from the residual heat.
The hot shop will not be doing demonstrations this year, however the gallery space will be open. We follow CDC recommendations for open air exchange and ask visitors to space themselves according to capacity.
We will be open both Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am-5:00pm

Regular prices range from $18-85, and projects are designed to be completed in less than an hour (they'll go in the kiln and be ready to pick up in about one week!) All the materials and instructions are included in your "kit", but you'll assemble the kit from a huge variety of choices. Because you don't have to do any cutting, these projects are great to do with kids! No experience needed, but someone is always around if you need encouragement. We have a spacious classroom where you can work on your projects, or take them home and bring them back at your convenience to go in the kiln.
