At the 5th Annual Art of Ellsworth: Maine Craft Weekend event you’ll go on studio tours, watch craft demonstrations, take workshops and listen to live music! Ellsworths Downtown Makerspace 16 State Street, Ellsworth, ME

Join Heart of Ellsworth for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of our new makerspace in Downtown Ellsworth! This exciting new space will feature an exhibition gallery, artist studios, offices, and coworking spaces, providing a vibrant environment for creativity and collaboration in our community. The ribbon-cutting will occur at 5:00 PM, followed by a chance to explore the building and learn more about this exciting new space. The first show will be “The Life of the River,” an art exhibition by the local high school students from Ellsworth High School.

Our first show will be "The Life of the River," a stunning art exhibition featuring works by talented Ellsworth High School students. The show will open on Friday, October 4th at 5:00 PM, following the ribbon-cutting for the new makerspace at 16 State Street. Refreshments will be available.

Instrument Petting Zoo with Ellsworth Community Music Institute

Ellsworth Public Library State Street, Ellsworth, ME

Join Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI) for an Instrument-Petting Zoo from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, at the Ellsworth Public Library. This interactive musical instrument demonstration features the cello, violin, piano, and guitar. ECMI faculty will offer the demonstrations, allowing young children four and up to touch, play, and experience instruments in person.

The Instrument Petting Zoo will be held at the Ellsworth Public Library. The event is sponsored by the Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI), and admission is free to all!

Blown Glass Pumpkin Patch at Atlantic Art Glass

Atlantic Art Glass 25 Pine St., Ellsworth, ME

Every October, we turn the hot glass-blowing shop into a "Glass Pumpkin Patch." We will pull out all the stops for Maine Crafts Weekend to celebrate and share our love of glass and other crafts with you! Linda Perrin and her team of glassblowers delight in creating a hub of arts activities while they demonstrate their glassblowing craft to the public. Come to the warehouse to watch traditional glassblowing all day as they make glass pumpkins in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors! Other local artisans will be showing and selling their crafts during the event. New this year are weaving and enameling workshops – stay tuned! Fine jewelry, pottery, prints, and more... Fogtown Brewery, located in the same building, will be slinging beverages and wood-fired pizza.! Swing by on Saturday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and on Sunday from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Maine Craft Weekend at Artsworth

Artsworth Studios 25 Pine St., Ellsworth, ME

A weekend of open studio activities! Artsworth annually creates this "hub" of fine arts activities in the building we share with our glassblowing neighbor, Atlantic Art Glass. It's a grand celebration of creativity by local makers, and you can find many of them here in one dynamic location.

Linda Perrin's team of glassmakers will demonstrate traditional glassblowing all day as they make glass pumpkins of all shapes, sizes, and colors! Atlantic Art Glass's studio will be turned into a glass pumpkin patch as the molten glass is pulled from the furnace, blown, and hand-formed on the end of a blowpipe. There are bleachers set up, and refreshments will be provided for your comfort as you watch demonstrations. The glass pumpkin patch charms visitors of all ages!

Artsworth is considered an MCA HUB. Local artisans will share their work at the 25 Pine St. Warehouse—fine jewelry, prints, pottery, fiber art, and more! Everyone will be showing, selling, demonstrating, and discussing how they make their work.

Come one, come all! Artsworth prides itself on being welcoming to all people and focusing on building community one event at a time. We want to see you out for this fabulous weekend—see you there!

During the workshop, you'll be guided through the basics of chicken wire sculpting using simple tools and materials. Whether you're an experienced DIY enthusiast or a complete beginner, this workshop welcomes everyone eager to contribute to our community art project. Let's come together to spread holiday cheer through creativity and community spirit!

Cardamom-Ginger Ghee Making Demonstration at the Conscious Cafe

Conscious Cafe 50 Church Street, Ellsworth, ME

Join Chef Jesse Steiger as he clarifies butter and turns it into ghee. Ghee is a type of clarified butter originating from India. The milk solids are removed, meaning ghee has less lactose than butter. Traditionally, ghee has been used as cooking oil, an ingredient in dishes, and in Ayurveda therapies. Infusing herbs into the ghee, such as ginger and cardamom, is the best way to acquire the healing benefits of those herbs.

After the demonstration, participants are welcome to buy some ghee and take it home in their kitchens. Chef Steiger will share more about the health benefits of ghee and how he uses it in his own recipes. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The demonstration will begin at 4:00 PM and end at 5:00 PM.
