This private studio will be open to the public for this event. The two artists will be available to demonstrate and answer questions concerning the different aspects of the weavings, baskets, stained glass windows and pottery they produce. Weather permitting, around noon of each day, the studio will feature an actual firing to further explain this method of pottery making. The studio will be set up with finished products for sale. The Fischer-Barberio Studio is located 2 miles off Route 3 at the end of Plummer Road. We are approximately 1/2 way between Augusta and Belfast.  If coming from Augusta, Plummer will be on the left 5.7 miles past Tobey’s Grocery. If coming from Belfast Plummer is on the right 2.7 miles past John’s Ice Cream. Plummer is two miles long with a fork at the one-mile mark. Bear left. Our studio is at the end of the road. All will be marked with MCA signs and orange & yellow balloons.

Working at hammering metal for 30 years, Andrew carries everything from a hook and items for the home to sculptures for the garden. Andrew’s wife, Phyllis Leck, has a weaving studio and creates items for the home. She hand dyes her yarns from local plants and weaves them into scarves and shawls. Both are full time working artists and are open to the public. They look forward to sharing their talent and inspiration. They also will be showing other crafts made by Maine artisans.

Tandem Glass represents the cumulative efforts of glass blowers Terrill Waldman and Charlie Jenkins. Their studio is a big light filled space perfect for large and small groups to see their colorful contemporary work. Each artist has worked in glass for 30 years, together for 20, as “Tandem” for 10. Both Charlie and Terrill have their own distinct style and enjoy working collaboratively with each other as well as other artist and designers. They will be demonstrating the process by which they make their color patterns on Saturday from 11-4pm, other methods such as etching, polishing, cutting are in process and can be seen throughout the shop all weekend long.

The opening and unloading of Gulden’s 40 cubic foot gas fired soda and salt kiln will begin Sunday morning at 10am and continue until all the pieces are unloaded from the kiln – this is a great opportunity to see how pottery is fired and observe the labor intensive process of unloading the pieces from the kiln.
