Hello, I’m Steve, the owner of S.E. Hall Furniture & Design, a single maker wood shop located in Gray, Maine. I produce custom furniture pieces and with my unused lumber and off-cuts I make smaller items for the home and kitchen. For Maine Craft Weekend I will be in the shop 8-5 working and entertaining visitors. I have a showroom in the upstairs of my building where you can peruse my work for sale and enjoy some seasonal snacks and beverages. This is a great opportunity to visit a working wood shop and take a behind the scenes look at what goes into your favorite wood products. S.E. Hall Furniture & Design holds “by appointment” hours throughout the week and weekend. Follow along on Instagram (@sehallfurnituredesign) and Facebook (@sehallfurniture) for updates!

HOURS: Saturday 10am-4pm
“Ceramic artist Liz Marks will fire her raku kiln throughout the weekend creating multiple pieces using this interactive/exciting process. The fully loaded kilns are fired to approximately 1800 degrees and when the ceramics are red hot, they’re placed into a fire pit full of combustible materials such as newspapers or leaves and then smothered to create a reduction of oxygen. While the kiln is firing, there will be a potters wheel for the kids to create spiral drawings as well as seeing the processes involved in creating these pieces of art-such as glazing the ceramic. Liz is a member of Fore River Gallery at 87 Market Street in Portland where she displays her work.
