Sunday Dynamic Surface Decoration Workshop with Ceramic Artist Rebecca Verrill at Hallowell Clay Works 2-5pm. The studio and gallery will be open 10-5pm Fee $45 Tiles will be provided. Tired of the same old solid color glaze options? Looking for a fun and entertaining way to spend a couple hours on Maine Craft weekend and enhance your ceramic surfaces? This might be the workshop for you! Rebecca will guide students through her decorating process on leatherhard earthenware tiles to create fun, dynamic layered surfaces. The primary focus will be in creating positive and negative paper stencils for use in masking, water etching and basic image transfer. Using colored slips and underglazes, Rebecca will demonstrate many of the techniques she uses in her own work to create crisp lines and high contrast, fun, layered contemporary surfaces. The methods covered in this workshop can easily be adapted to meet the individual interests and abilities of students at any age, and can be utilized with any type of clay and temperature.

Rebecca is a native Mainer and has been teaching art for 17 years throughout the country, from Pre-K through college courses and adult workshops, with all ages and abilities in between. She received her MFA in Ceramics from SUNY New Paltz in 2013 with a special focus on native clays. She shows her work nationally through shows and galleries and currently maintains a studio at Bayside Clay in Portland. Rebecca is an active member of the Maine Crafts Association and the Maine Potters Market. The Liberal Cup Public House & Brewery is proud to be part of the Maine Brewer’s Guild and the Craft Beer movement here in Maine that has elevated the state to national recognition. The Liberal Cup in Hallowell is our take on the traditional English pub. Our mission is to provide a gathering place for our local friends and seasonal visitors to enjoy good food and drink.Like the pubs that dot the English countryside, The Liberal Cup is an inviting and cozy spot to bring family and friends. And while the draughts will conjure that familiar flavor of jolly ole England (ales and bitters being our specialty), we’re happy to brag that the food will not. We open at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
